Do you gamble? And if so, do you set yourself limits? What sort of gambling do you participate in? Once a week I will purchase a Lottery Ticket and pick 6 random numbers even though the odds are low.

I'm not a gambling man, I've never bought a scratch card or put the lottery on.

I just think these companies make so much money out of millions of losers (not in a cruel way) I don't wanna be part of the thing that keeps them alive.

Technically, I don't gamble but I have recently got into investing a bit on the stock market and I guess some would consider that a sort of gamble. I make sure that I never invest more than I can afford to lose. I made about £500 profit from investing in GameStop so I'm going to use that profit to invest more rather than put in more of my own money.

I don't gamble often but once in a while a good Poker match isn't terrible. Though I wouldn't put much on the line and wouldn't be more then $1 between each turn. Playing Poker can actually be really fun but the only way it can be risky is if someone puts a lot of money on the line. You can lose a lot from gambling and some people have gambling addictions.

I don't mind gambling occasionally, but it has to be within reason for it to be enjoyable.. I only play with what I can afford to lose, but I occasionally win which is a bonus.

I used to occasionally play the lottery and buy the odd scratch card, but it's not something I tend to do anymore. I did have a couple of lucky streaks on both; I once had x4 numbers on the lottery and won about £70, and I've had a £50 win on a scratch card in the past.

I usually place a little bet on the Grand National. I've had a couple of winners with that too.. I rarely go for the favourite, I look for a name that jumps out to me.

I also play poker with a group of mates - we used to play twice a week back in the day when none of us had any real commitments to speak of.. Now we're lucky to play once a month (not including during lockdown). We usually do a £10 buy-in, and pay the top two. I'd say that I've won more than I've lost with that too. Very rarely we'll go for a night in the casino and try our luck.. I tend to do better with Blackjack though 😅

All in all, I'd say I've been pretty lucky with gambling!

I used to gamble a lot, it almost took over my life. I spent 1000s a month and every time I won, I gambled that too.

Barely surviving.

Now I dont gamble at all. I have nothing against it though, I made my own choices.

Did you seek help @Lee?

Glad to hear you've managed to cut the habit, and I congratulate you on doing so - it can happen to anyone.

I can't say I've ever gambled, the closest I've come would be lootboxes in TF2 back when those first came out. Learned pretty quick that I was just getting ripped off so I've not really desired to gamble in any sense since.

I've been entering competitions on the radio (Heart FM) quite a bit lately at £2 a go, as well as playing the odd £10 or £5 here and there on Instant Win games via The National Lottery app (they're like interactive scratch cards)..

You almost get lulled into a false sense of hope, thinking that your fortune has to change at some point and that somebody has to win. I'm going to stop, I've won practically zilch since I started doing it.. 🤐

We don't do it regularly but we enter them once in a while just for the fun of it. We know that the chances of winning are slim but it's just worth a go once or twice a month. We did one today for £2 that was for £75000 on Magic FM

The way I think of it is that you have more chance of winning on one of those competitions than you do winning the Lottery.. Probably the wrong way to think about it though!

They both seem unlikely to me. The benefit of the lottery is that you know it's random so there is always that minor chance you win. It's a bit harder to trust the radio ones since you're not sure what's happening in the background and whether the calls really are random.

I've put another cheeky little bet on the Grand National for today, only £5 e/w (£10 total).. We'll see what happens!

So I'll be cheering on Ain't That A Shame 🏇

I used to very infrequently go to a casino with my friends, just for fun, not with the aim of making ourselves rich. I'd always set a quota (say £50) and if I lost it then I've spent that amount on a good night out, so no issue. If I broke-even then I've had a free night of entertainment. And if I was up then that's considered a bonus to the evening. But that's all easier said than done, casinos are amazing at what they do, provide the atmosphere to make you want to try all the games, make the exit's hard to find, and gambling itself is so dangerously addictive. As soon as you win and find yourself in profit, the urge to keep going is overwhelming.

These days I don't gamble at all, not even the lottery. I see people buy tens of tickets in one go and that truly baffles me. The odds are so against you that, even though buying 10 tickets technically does increase your chances ten-fold, the odds of actually winning are still so astronomically small that there's really no point in putting money on more than one ticket.

I also find it funny that people will think really hard about creating a seemingly random combination of numbers for the lottery, trying to avoid man-made patterns. Even though the odds of getting 1,2,3,4,5,6 are exactly the same as any other combination, our ability to associate that with a predefined pattern adds an automatic stigma to choosing it. If anything you're better off choosing the former, as you're probably more likely to have to not share the jackpot if you end up winning because no bugger else has chosen it.

Your approach to casino nights sounds spot-on! It's all about the fun, setting limits, and enjoying the entertainment.Totally get what you mean about the allure of casinos—it's like a whole world designed to keep you in! Wise choice on steering clear of gambling these days, and I can relate to the lottery mystery—numbers are numbers, right? By the way, have you ever thought about trying to play live casino for a different kind of gaming thrill?
