First of all, I would like to say thanks to Andy for allowing me to write articles for Nerdface, although I'm not too sure why he would entrust me with such powers I hope it works out positively nevertheless!
I hope I can speak for all of us when I say I really appreciate the work that has gone into Nerdface - everything feels thought out, refined, and while there are a few bugs here and there, I think we can agree that this level of polish is not something that is found on most websites out there, let alone ones as new as this! It has turned into a great community, and I really appreciate Andy's work on this front. But for this endless stream of new features to be worthwhile, I believe we need to ask you to help us so we can help you. Both Andy and myself, along with some efforts from other users, have attempted to bring new people to the community we have here, and, since signups are still coming, I believe that it is working, although at perhaps a...
There's never been a better or more convenient way of signing up and/or logging in to Nerdface!
I'm happy to introduce connected accounts, which allows you to use an existing account with a social media platform to quickly and easily sign up at Nerdface, or login to an existing account once it has been connected. Existing members can connect their accounts by visiting Connected accounts.
Currently supported platforms are: Facebook
If you would like to see any other platforms supported, add a comment and I can look into it!
With XenForo 2.1 currently on Beta 5, and a few add-on developers deciding to shift support to this version already - I'm starting to plan the next major updates to Nerdface.
It is very unlikely that this will happen before XenForo 2.1 is considered stable due to a number of considerations, but that doesn't mean to say that I can't start testing things locally to test the transition, and to start working on some of the new features that I'd like to bring. With this in mind, I do not plan to make any more changes to Nerdface as it is until this time (excluding bugfixes should they be required).
Inevitably there is going to be a bit of downtime when the upgrade happens, but this will hopefully be kept to a minimum if all goes well with testing.
I appreciate that discussion is still a bit slow, and despite the efforts of Airo and myself sign-ups haven't been forthcoming - but as long as we continue to do what we are doing (feedback has been good), things can only...
I'm doing what I can, but if people could help with passing on the word to their friends, family, or colleagues who may be interesting in actively participating with our discussions (or starting their own!) it would be much appreciated.
I don't have a referral system in place yet, but this is definitely on the cards along with rewards for those who do help. In the meantime, just send me a PM with details of your referral and once verified I can make a manual note for future credits.
I'm aware activity may well be a bit slow as Christmas approaches and people spend time away from their computers, but hopefully this can pick up in the New Year.
It's been a long time coming, but Nerdface is finally (re-)open!
I've done as much testing as I can to ensure a smooth and user friendly experience, but should any issues be encountered please do let me know. I promise to add more content soon, and there are more features planned in the coming months.
Please do register, and pass on the link to your friends. The website has taken a lot of commitment in time, effort, and finance, and I hope for it to be worthwhile.
I've almost finished installing the add-ons for the upgrade on my localhost, which means I'll be working on trying to fix up the things that aren't working on XF 2.1 out of the box. If I'm able to fix them all, the upgrade may come sooner than XF 2.1 being declared stable!
I purposely haven't made us appear any different to non-staff, but we are listed as such on the Notable members. If trophies are implemented I may also do a staff trophy, but we'll see how the vote goes.
